Who we are

TalkFishing is made by Stixx Digital Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 11767230, registered office Suite 128 Icentre, Howard Way, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, MK16 9FX, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at support@talk.fishing.

The short version

The app: what stays on your phone

The app saves the following on your iPhone only, and we cannot see it: voice notes and the text written from them; photos you take or choose; trip details such as dates, times, catches, species, weights, baits and notes; the location of each moment if you allow location and leave "Save location with each moment" on; air pressure readings; waters and spots you save with your notes; your name, photos, fishing style and settings.

App permissions

iPhone asks your permission before the app uses the microphone and speech recognition (voice notes), location (tagging trips and suggesting nearby waters), camera and photos (pictures), and motion (air pressure). You can change these at any time in iPhone Settings. The app still works if you say no, with fewer features.

Apple services

Some features use Apple services, covered by Apple's privacy policy: your location is sent to Apple to look up place names and nearby waters in Apple Maps; Siri handles requests such as "Talk to TalkFishing"; and backups you save to iCloud Drive, or iPhone backups, are stored by Apple in your Apple Account.

Sharing from the app

Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to share it. Share cards go to the app you pick and never include your exact location.

This website, the waitlist and beta testing

If you join the waitlist we collect your email address, your fishing style if you give it, and your consent. If you apply to test we also collect your first name, how often and where you fish, your iPhone model and any notes you add, plus confirmation that you're 18 or over.

We use this only to tell you about TalkFishing's launch and news (waitlist), and to run the beta test and send TestFlight invites (testers). Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by using the unsubscribe link or emailing us.

These details are stored with our database provider Supabase, which processes them on our behalf under a data processing agreement. When we invite you to test, your name and email are shared with Apple to send the TestFlight invite. We keep waitlist details until launch plus 12 months, or until you unsubscribe, and tester details until 12 months after testing ends. We don't sell or share them with anyone else.

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address to deliver them.

Purchases

If you buy a subscription, Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details.

Children

TalkFishing is not aimed at children under 13, and beta testers must be 18 or over. If we add features that share information between users, we will add age checks and child-safe settings first.

Keeping and deleting your data

App data stays on your phone until you delete it. You can delete a moment or trip in the app, delete everything in Profile, Settings, Delete all my data, or delete the app. To remove your waitlist or tester details, email us.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, which applies to us wherever you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. Email support@talk.fishing. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or to the data protection authority where you live. If you live outside the UK, you may have similar or additional rights under your local law, and we will respect them.

Changes

Before we add features that send app data off your phone, such as sign-in, cloud backup, weather or AI summaries, we will update this policy and ask for your permission in the app where required.
